Incheon Airport to Seoul: Train, Bus, or Taxi at Any Hour

You land at Incheon, and the question is which routes are still running and what each charges tonight. This page compares the routes those operators publish, with the fare, the journey time and the hours each page prints. A taxi fare comes off the meter, so no total is given for it.

The routes into Seoul, side by side

Landing after midnight

The express train stops before midnight. On the weekday tab, the last one leaves Terminal 2 at 22:40 and Terminal 1 at 22:48, reaching Seoul Station at 23:31. From the other direction the last express out of Seoul Station is 23:00.

Night buses pick up where the trains leave off. The earliest departure on either terminal’s table is 23:20, on N6703 out of Terminal 2. Out of Terminal 1 they start at 23:40 on N6703 and 23:50 on N6701. N6002 toward Cheongnyangni follows at 00:00, and N6000 toward the Gangnam Express Bus Terminal at 00:10. Going the other way, the last departures toward the airport are 03:30 from the Gangnam Express Bus Terminal and 03:20 from Cheongnyangni for Terminal 1, arriving 04:40 and 04:50.

Seoul Station turns up on a route named for somewhere else. N6701, which the timetables label for Dongdaemun Design Plaza, calls at Seoul Station on the way. The terminal pages time it at 60 minutes from Terminal 1 and 80 from Terminal 2, and start it at 23:50 from Terminal 1 and 23:30 from Terminal 2.

A taxi never closes, and at that hour it is priced accordingly. A metered taxi adds 40 percent between 23:00 and 02:00, and 20 percent from 22:00 to 23:00 and again from 02:00 to 04:00. Gyeonggi-bound trips take a flat 30 percent from 23:00 to 04:00 instead. Seoul, Incheon and four Gyeonggi cities count as one joint operating zone, so no boundary surcharge applies inside them. Going further, to Paju for instance, the surcharge starts where the taxi leaves Goyang. The taxi page also shows a live count of waiting cars.

Which card pays for which ride

The card in your pocket decides more here than the route does. On the all-stop train a prepaid transport card gets you the KRW 4,750 or 5,350 fare. A single-journey card from the machine costs KRW 100 more and takes a KRW 500 deposit, refunded at the station you get off at.

WOWPASS carries a Tmoney Balance funded at purchase, and its own page points that balance at this ride: “You can use the initial transportation balance to get to Seoul by the Airport Railroad (AREX) All-Stop Train!”

Tmoney’s guide bars boarding AREX on a Climate Card at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, so it is not the card that gets you out of the airport. You may get off at either terminal on it, and not get on.

Age discounts read literally. The express senior discount is written for 만 65세 이상 내국인, Korean nationals aged 65 and over, and discounts do not stack. On the all-stop train children aged 6 to 13 pay a KRW 550 base plus half the adult distance add-on, and up to three under-sixes ride free per accompanying adult.

Going straight from the airport to a venue

KSPO Dome and Jamsil Indoor Stadium are both on the Seoul subway, so they sit on the far side of whichever route above gets you into the city.
